A beauty queen says she is “shocked and excited” after making the finals of Miss Hertfordshire 2015.

Chloe Hutchings, 20, from Hemel, has been selected for the finals of the prestigious pageant which is about much more than a pretty face.

In preparation for the final the digital media design student has to make an eco dress from recycled materials which she said she is finding “very fun.”

Should Chloe – who has featured on the front of teen magazine Sugar – be crowned Miss Hertfordshire 2015 she will automatically be entered into the reckoning for Miss England, which in turn is a platform for Miss World.

The Bournemouth University student is relishing the opportunity.

She said: “It was such a shock to have been selected to be in the finals.

“I didn’t expect to get this far at all! It’s such a big competition and I feel so grateful to be in the final.

“Making an eco dress from recycled materials is very fun. I did Art Design at GCSE level at Townsend CofE School (St Albans) so I have done this sort of thing before. I am starting to take inspiration and add it to my eco dress, my current idea involves balloons and ribbon.”

Chloe is not just in it for personal glory, though. She is also very driven by her charity work and is busy raising money for the charity Beauty With a Purpose. She will be running in the London Easter 10k, swimming 2k and attending car boot sales and bake sales.

She added: “I have done some fundraising before, I often take part in the annual Swimathon, swimming 2.5k or 5k for Marie Curie cancer. I love that fundraising is a big part of Miss Hertfordshire, it is for such a great charity and it keeps me busy.”

The finals will be held on April 26 at The Forum in Stevenage. Should Chloe win the 2015 pageant, she will follow in the footsteps of Charlotte White, who won last year’s title (see YouTube video).

It is also not the first time Chloe has been featured by the Gazette. When she was 14 we reported how she was competing in a modelling competition against thousands of girls across the UK.
