Vote to let council know what your priorities are

A token voting scheme – like the ones used in some supermarkets to allow customers to vote for good causes to receive cash – has been adopted by council bosses in a bid to get a better picture of what the public wants.

Visitors to Dacorum Borough Council’s Civic Centre in Marlowes, Hemel Hempstead, are being asked to pop a green token into one of three boxes, which are on display at the reception.

Each one is headed with a different priority – affordable housing, safe and clean environment and regeneration and economic development.

Council consultation officer Claire McKnight said: “We are always seeking residents’ views.

“This is another opportunity for people to tell us what they think, like the listening days that went on in September and the poll on our website.”

Nearby Asda, in Hillfield Road, uses a similar voting system to allow shoppers to choose what local good causes should get a cash injection from the supermarket.
