A VICAR will be combining her dog collar and running gear when she takes on a half marathon to help pay for a new church loo.

The Rev Lauretta Wilson, vicar at St Benedict’s Church in Bennetts End, says she is ‘not a runner’ but hopes to raise around £3,000 towards a new disabled toilet by taking part in the Sheffield Half Marathon on May 27.

“One of the main motivations is that older people can’t come to the church because they can’t get to the toilet – that is a big concern,” the 47-year-old said.

“I’m not really a runner. For the past couple of months I’ve been trying to pound the streets a bit.”

The church needs to raise a total of £25,000 and a number of fundraising events are planned.
