Two week attack on cars

Police have stepped up patrols in Berkhamsted and Tring following a spate of car break-ins.

Motorists in the towns have been faced with stolen sat navs, number plates and a catalogue of smashed windows over the past two weeks.

Police have not ruled out that some of the break-ins may be linked and have increased patrols in the affected areas.

Detective Inspector Fraser Wylie from Dacorum area crime, said: "There has been an increase in theft from cars in Tring and Berkhamsted."

However, he said the numbers were still relatively low with 29 reported in the towns last month.

"This is something we are taking very seriously and have increased our high visibility patrols accordingly and we are also exploring a variety of other tactics. We are also urging members of the public to be extra vigilant.

He warned people not to leave any valuables on display and to try not to leave their cars in isolated area.

DI Wylie also urged the public to look out for suspicious activity.
