A YOUTH worker will host a curry night to raise funds for a trip to India where he will educate children who are living in poverty.

Harry Clucas, 20, who works at the Swan Youth Centre in Berkhamsted High Street, will go to Kerala in India for two months from Saturday, June 2.

He will teach children English at a school for children aged four to 14-on weekdays and educate youngsters in art and sport at an orphanage on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

The trip will cost about £2,600, but he already has some of the money.

To help raise the rest of the cash, Harry is hosting a curry night at The Rising Sun in George Street, Berkhamsted, from 8pm tonight.

Guests will be asked to cover the cost of the food, plus make whatever donation they can afford.

Harry, of Kitsbury Road, Berkhamsted, said: “I’ve been thinking about this for years and I’m really excited.

“I have always liked volunteering and have been doing it at various youth centres since I was 16.

“I thought it would be interesting to do it in a different country. It’s going to be a real culture shock and will really put life into perspective.”
