A man living in a supported housing scheme is celebrating after his double medal haul at the Great Britain Special Olympics.

James Harrison, 32, of Tring, has been swimming since he was eight years old.

He won a silver medal in the 50 metres freestyle and a bronze medal in the 4 x 25 metres relay in the games, held in Bath. More than 1,700 UK athletes with varying intellectual disabilities competed in the games.

James said: “I feel so proud to have come back with two medals. I would like to encourage others to get involved as anyone can achieve great things if they try.”

James is a tenant of Hightown Praetorian and Churches housing association, which opened 10 new affordable homes on the new Cherry Tree Grove development, off Redbourn Road, Hemel Hempstead, last week.
