An aspiring triathlete’s dream of competing for Great Britain is being backed by three Dacorum businesses.
Sporty Amy Kilpin, 27, has secured the support of Emma James Physio – based in Hemel Hempstead – and the Dacorum Sports Trust to help her work towards her goal of flying out to Austria and taking part in the European Championships next June.
A full triathlon involves a testing combination of long-distance swimming, cycling and running.
Emma James Physio will be providing weekly treatments and sports massages to maximise Amy’s recovery and ensure she’s on top form.
The Dacorum Sports Trust has also offered her a free gym and swim membership, as the super-fit sportswoman swims up to five times a week on top of five gym session.
Amy – a digital marketing and communications manager – said: “It’s so heartwarming to know that there is a readiness for local businesses to help me towards my aspirations of going somewhere in the triathlon world.
“I’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has supported me so far, and I really hope I can inspire people along the way and help raise the profile of some fantastic local organisations in the process.”
Amy loves a challenge, and celebrated coming 10th in her age group after competing in this year’s Ironman triathlon back in August.
Shortly afterwards she welcomed the sponsorship of Lovelo Cycle Works – based in Berkhamsted – which now equips Amy with essential kit and bike maintenance.
