NEIGHBOURS took it upon themselves to clear away a tree that fell in the road.

People living in Hidalgo Court in Hemel Hempstead removed a tree blocking their street after it fell just after 12.15am yesterday (Sunday).

High winds caused a number of trees to fall across the borough at the weekend.

Herts Highways’ tree surgeons were called to Station Road and Grove Park in Tring, where a fallen tree caused problems for motorists on the way to the railway station.

The council also removed fallen trees in Chesham Road in Berkhamsted, Nettleden Road in Little Gaddesden, Friendless Lane in Markyate and Old House Road in Hemel Hempstead.
