A YOUTH club has been given £2,000 to run a series of workshops on topics including careers advice, first aid and drugs awareness.

The cash came from the community fund of The Co-operative Group - where its members give all or part of their twice-yearly dividend payments to good causes.

Swan Youth Centre coordinator Claire Muir, who applied for the grant, said it was a “generous” gift.

She said: “We have been running our youth club for the last five years, and are proud to offer a range of activities and workshops each year.”

The centre in High Street, Berkhamsted, offers youngsters support and training in “key life skills, which are essential to their personal growth,” Ms Muir said.

There is £200,000 available for East of England groups each year through the community fund.
