Hemel Hempstead is gearing up for its starring role in this year’s Tour of Britain.

The town will be welcoming the world’s top cyclists as it hosts the sixth stage finish of the country’s biggest professional bike race on September 12.

Coverage will be shown live on ITV4 from Gadebridge Park.

Dacorum borough councillor Neil Harden said: “We’re so excited to host the Tour of Britain.

“It will be great day out for all the family as well as cycling enthusiasts – and a big draw for visitors.”

Mayor of Dacorum Allan Lawson, borough council chief executive Sally Marshall and MPs for Hemel Hempstead and South West Herts David Gauke got into the cycling spirit when they met the Tour’s mascot, Tobi, last week at Shendish Manor.
