Dangerous and inconsiderate parking on the school run was tackled when police joined forces with pupils.

Youngsters from Hammond Academy in Cambrian Way, Highfield, worked with Hemel Hempstead police officers on Wednesday.

PCSO Mark Pattinson, PC Jinesh Solankee and PCSO James Cook hosted the awareness raising operation during drop-off and pick-up times to prevent double parking and vehicles blocking the school entrance.

If a motorist was spotted parking inconsiderately the group expressed their concerns and issued a specially created ‘Hammond ticket’ explaining what the driver was doing wrong.

PCSO Pattinson said: “The children were excited to think they could help tackle the problem and we plan to carry out more days like this in the future.”
