They’re going to be strictly phenomenal

The jitters are starting to set in for these dancing duos as the grand finale night of Strictly Learn Dancing looms for the charity fundraiser.

On Saturday, February 23, the 20 couples will take to the stage to perform the quickstep and rumba to a sell out audience at Berkhamsted’s Centenary Hall in aid of the Hospice of St Francis.

Senior community fundraiser Fran Martin said: “It promises to be a night to remember.

“We are really excited that Espinosa Dance Project, Berkhamsted’s very own ballet company, is supporting us and providing us with first class entertainment. Under the instruction of Yat-Sen Chang – former principal dancer of the English National Ballet – young, recently-graduated dancers will perform some of the most complex dance pieces. It’s going to be phenomenal.”

To add to the glamour, contestants will be preened and perfected by long-standing hospice supporters Gorgeous Hair and Gorgeous Beauty in Berkhamsted, who are providing their services free of charge for the third year running.

Qualified ballroom instructors Brian and Shirley Cusworth of Hemel Hempstead Baila-Cusworth Dance School have been teaching the contestants for the past six weeks. They also give their time for free to support the Northchurch charity.

“It’s a privilege to be able to teach hospice supporters for a third time and as challenging as the quickstep is, they are all doing really well and their rumba is looking beautiful,” said Shirley.

“We’re looking forward to watching the steps we’ve taught them, together with their unique personality, being performed on stage at the grand finale.”

As well as raising thousands of pounds for the cause by taking to the stage, one couple who wow the judges will be crowned the winners on the big night.
