A former pupil at The Hemel Hempstead School who went into business with an ex-England cricketer is helping two international rugby players get new heads of hair.

Darryl King, 32, grew up in town and his family still live in Boxmoor. But after university, he set up Capital Hair Restoration with Owais Shah.

Mr King, who experienced hair loss himself, lives with girlfriend Selina, a physiotherapist, in London, and runs the restoration firm.

He was chuffed to be contacted by Rhys Gill and Thomas Waldrom – to help break down barriers of dealing with hair loss.

“What’s great is these two are willing to talk about it,” he said. “Historically, there is a stigma attached to it – men have been labelled as soft. But these are tough guys. They are professional rugby players.”

The pair, who contacted Mr King through Twitter, could face off in this weekend’s Aviva Premiership Final.

Prop Gill has played 135 times for Saracens and has six Wales caps to his name.

Waldrom – known as Thomas the Tank – is a Number 8 for Exeter Chiefs and has played four times for England. He tweeted: “I’m pleased to announce that I’m booked in @_CapitalHair to get my lid sorted after the season.”

Mr King will oversee the procedure which costs between £4,000 and £6,000.

The pair will go under local anaesthetic before surgeons remove follicles from the back of their heads and place them at the front. In just six months’ time, they will be able to proudly show off their fuller heads of hair.
