TV presenter Maggie Philbin has handed a team of psychiatrists from Herts a gong for their work promoting better mental health.

The BBC’s technology whizz helped staff from Herts Partnership NHS Trust (HPFT) celebrate at the NHS Innovation Awards, which highlight cutting edge working practices.

The team were highly commended for developing a ‘toolkit’ of ways to promote recovery, including training people who have personal experience of mental ill health to help current service users by encouraging dialogue, reflection and behavioural change.

Dr Billy Boland, consultant psychiatrist for the community mental health team, said: “Having this work recognised across the region is very important for us. It demonstrates that the work we are doing has real value. The toolkit is just one of the many ways HPFT is looking to offer the best mental health services possible and we are going to carry on developing it to make sure that it has a real and positive impact on our service users’ recovery.”

The trust runs mental health and learning disability services.
