Tourists can follow in the footsteps of the likes of Henry VIII and Winston Churchill at Ashridge House this month.

The 19th century home to Ashridge Business School is welcoming visitors for guided talks around the neo-gothic building and pristine gardens.

House tours take place every Monday to Thursday at 2pm and 2.30pm until August 28, apart from bank holiday Monday, and last around an hour and a half.

Tours of the Humphry Repton-designed gardens are on offer on Tuesday and Thursday from 4pm and take around an hour to complete.

Afterwards visitors can enjoy afternoon tea or coffee and cakes in the relaxed atmosphere of rooms where once the likes of Churchill sat.

The tours cost £8 for adults and £5 for children/concessions. Historic Housing Association members go free.

Last summer and at Easter the tours proved more popular than ever, attracting unprecedented numbers.
