Stylist through in hair contest

A HAIR stylist from Berkhamsted made the cut to progress to the next round of a new E4 programme to find the Great British Hairdresser.

Charlotte Johnson, who owns The Annexx in High Street, appeared in the first episode of the show on Monday.

She was chosen from auditions to join others in the contestants’ house for the competition hosted by stylist James Brown. He is joined by Glamour magazine editor Jo Elvin and co-presenter Abbey Clancy.

Charlotte, 53, said: “We took a model with us and he changed the model and I was given a customer with a wig glued on to her head and have never worked on anything like that before.”

She then had to deal with a complaining customer, but passed with flying colours.

She said: “At the end I was called up into the centre of the room in front of everyone and he said this is the type of haircut he would give an A-list celebrity. At that point, I was absolutely full of joy.”

See Charlotte in E4’s next episode of Great British Hairdresser at 10pm on Monday.
