DARKNESS? A study is under way to see which street lights can be switched off to save cash.
Herts County Council wants to turn some of them off between midnight and 6am to combat public sector cuts.
Dacorum Borough Council is working with the county council and police to figure out which must stay on, said clerk Alan Kemp at a Berkhamsted Town Council meeting.
He said street lights are not allowed to be switched off near schools, road junctions, train stations, bus stops and other areas.
He added: “I can’t see them being able to turn off the lights in very many places.”
