‘Speed limits are 24-hour’ warn police after clocking two M1 drivers at more than 100mph

Police have warned drivers to obey the speed limit after clocking two cars at more than 100mph on the M1.

Beds, Cambs and Herts Road Policing Unit wrote on social networking website Twitter that they were monitoring speeds on the motorway on Saturday and Sunday night.

Officers caught someone going at 105mph on Sunday and tweeted: “Speed limits are 24-hour. There is no excuse for that speed.”

An M1 driver in Herts was caught driving at 100mph, undertaking six cars and then driving at 90mph in a 50mph zone, they reported on Saturday.

The motorist has been reported for a ‘due care’ driving offence, they wrote.
