Should you join surgery legal fight?
A solicitor who has taken up the case of a retired teacher, who was fitted with faulty hip resurfacing implants is urging others to come forward.
Although Lottie Clarke, of Corner Hall, Hemel Hempstead, had no apparent symptoms, a medical test discovered she had dangerous levels of metal ions in her blood.
Mike Neale, a litigation lawyer from Hemel Hempstead law firm Pictons, has taken on Lottie’s case. He said: “Lottie is far from a victim and wants to take the case to court to help others who may be in similar danger.
“I think a lot of people worry about the cost of taking legal action, but I don’t take on cases unless I think they have a more than excellent chance of winning.
“In cases like this, it’s always good to represent more than one sufferer – a class action, as they are called – not only shares the cost of litigation, it also presents a more powerful case against the defendant.
“I want to encourage other people to come forward if they think they have a similar problem, they deserve to get justice.”
