A SAUCY sign advertising strippers has provoked a storm of protest since appearing at the side of a road in a quiet village.

The illuminated sign, at the Waggon and Horses pub in Flamstead, features the silhouette of a naked woman draped seductively around a post with ‘exotic dancers’ in pink lettering.

Flamstead Parish Council is ‘extremely upset’ and attempting to block planning permission for the sign when it is discussed by Dacorum Borough Council tonight.

Parish council chairman Hilary Killen said: “It’s ironic the district is called Dacorum.

“It might not be out of place in Soho but we are a rural, village community and we do regard it as out of place, and I don’t think I can overemphasise that.”

A report to councillors for the meeting of the council’s development control committee recommends the application for approval.
