A MAN suffered severe head injuries and was airlifted to a specialist trauma centre after he fell from a roof in Potten End this afternoon (Wednesday).

It is believed the man was working on the roof in Water End Road when he was taken unwell and fell off on to scaffolding.

Ambulance crews were called to the scene at 2.56pm and the Essex Air Ambulance was called upon due to the nature of the man’s injuries.

Ambulance service spokesman Gary Sanderson said: “We believe the man was taken suddenly unwell whilst up on the roof where he then fell onto scaffolding below.

“Paramedics and the critical care team from the helicopter were able to treat, stabilise and immobilise him before he was flown direct to St Mary’s Hospital in London.”
