IT has been confirmed that a senior politician will be intervening in the case of a travellers site near Hemel Hempstead.

Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government Eric Pickles will rule whether or not the Tullochside site off of Hemel Hempstead Road could see an increase of four pitches following a council refusal and subsequent appeal.

Head of legal, democratic and regulatory services at St Albans City and District Council Mike Lovelady said: “We can confirm that the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government is to determine a planning appeal against a council decision refusing planning permission for occupied land at Tullochside in Little Revel End Lane, Redbourn to remain as a residential site with the number of caravans increased from 16 to 20.

“The planning inspector will now prepare a report and recommendations for the Secretary of State to consider.”

The site was founded in the 90s and the council has previously attempted to move caravans on.
