When Hemel Hempstead’s new Aldi supermarket opened, five scouts were on the guest list.

The invitation followed on from the retail group’s involvement in a town-wide scouting operation to pack stacks of donated goodies into shoeboxes for troops serving on the front line.

TheTreats For Troops Christmas gifts drive attracted support from many businesses, including Aldi – even though the store hadn’t opened.

The Aldi team were so impressed by the commitment of the young people that they kindly invited Hemel Hempstead Scouts to the store to receive a donation of £250 to district funds.

This was the first official engagement for the group’s five Jamboree team members to get together following the announcement that they were selected from a group of 38 Scouts last month, to represent Hemel Hempstead at the World Jamboree in Japan, in 2015.
