MORE than 1,000 people are gearing up to run the streets of Berkhamsted to raise cash for good causes.

So far, 1,380 runners have registered to take part in the half marathon and 250 have signed up to a five-mile fun run on Sunday, March 6.

The deadline for entry has been extended to this Friday. It costs £19 to enter the half marathon and £8 for the shorter run.

The event, now in its 29th year, is organised by the Rotary Club of Berkhamsted Bulbourne and will raise cash for the Pepper Foundation and The Hospice of St Francis.

In 2010 more than £20,000 was raised and attracted 1,750 entrants.

Race director Peter Robertson said: “Last year was our best race ever and this year is going to be even better. We are on track to beat the number of entrants we had then.”

Last year’s runners are shown in the photo.
