THE owner and chef of a town centre restaurant walked 12 miles to raise money for charity.

Rayhan Ahmed and his boss Farhad Ahmed walked from The New Akash in Berkhamsted High Street to the magic roundabout in Hemel Hempstead and back.

Rayhan said: “It was a bit cold, but nice.

“We walked there along the Grand Union Canal and back down the main road.

“I would do it again – and go even further than this.

“It gave us something to talk about and helped keep us fit.”

The two got £1,262 in sponsorship from walk on Mother’s Day, which will now go to The Hospice of St Francis in Northchurch.

Rayhan said: “They do a very good job and work very hard and I thought I would like to help them out.”
