Ramp it up if you can be a Horizons helper

Volunteer Centre Dacorum

A selection of the opportunities available this week through Volunteer Centre Dacorum.

Dacorum Horizons needs volunteer reception team members to help out at their secondhand book and furniture shop on the ramp in Marlowes.

The organisation provides a Hemel Hempstead town centre shop front for other charities in the borough, meeting rooms for community use and a base for counselling and careers guidance. This role involves welcoming visitors and assisting them with their enquiries, sourcing information and generally helping out where needed.

If you have good people skills, are friendly and willing and could help out on either a Wednesday or Thursday, this could be the role for you.

Volunteers with an interest in local radio broadcasting are needed by Grovehill-based Radio Dacorum.

The presenters need help with production tasks for live and recorded shows. These could include writing scripts, conducting research or editing audio material. Good IT skills are essential and training in the use of equipment will be provided.

Community Action Dacorum needs volunteer minibus drivers for their shopping service in Tring.

This helps residents who are unable to use public transport to do their own shopping. It helps people stay independent and gives them a chance to socialise too. Volunteer drivers should be between 21 and 70, have a full clean driving licence and will need to take a minibus assessment.

Even if you can’t volunteer on a regular basis, you can help lots of Dacorum-based charities by taking part in Volunteer Centre Decorum’s fun packed event in the Marlowes on Saturday, June 1. We need donations for our tombola stall, prizes for our competitions and practical help on the day. If you can help in any way we would love to hear from you.
