Hemel Hempstead’s Water Gardens has been left a muddy coloured mess by overnight downpours.
Marcus Powell took this snap overlooking the town centre landmark, which looks full to the brim.
Much of the borough’s householders awoke to flooding misery this morning following weeks of rain and more heavy downpours overnight.
It has meant that many roads have been closed off to traffic and in some areas motorists have been forced to abandon their cars.
The Water Gardens - designed by Geoffrey Jellicoe - is one of the most important post war heritage sites in Dacorum but over the years the area has become run down.
Council plans include restoring the gardens original structures, including bridges and viewing platforms, and creating a central community hub, with seating, attractive planting displays, and space where people can meet, relax and enjoy the gardens.
