The Children In Need mascot teamed up with staff from bakery chain Greggs in the town centre to raise more than £300 for the cause.

The cuddly character turned up to entertain children at the family fun day on Saturday, which included a bouncy castle and face painting.

More than 15 local businesses benefited from having a stall at the event and youngsters from Little Oaks Pre-school in Adeyfield came along to lend a hand with musical activities.

Shop manager Joel Wheeler said: “We are absolutely delighted with the number of people who came along and helped to make it such a fantastic day, raising lots of money for a worthy cause, despite the wet weather.

“It was great to receive such strong support from the local community and local businesses. I would like to thank those who came along for their contributions.”
