BURGLARS who targeted an upmarket street in Berkhamsted were involved in a high speed police car chase after eagle-eyed householders dialled 999.

Cops, including the police chopper, the town’s neighbourhood team, intervention officers and the dog unit, rushed to Hall Park Gate at 12.30pm on Monday.

Three men in a Volkswagen Golf were chased through the streets of Berkhamsted before officers caught up with them in a field close to the M25 at Bricket Wood. The high speed pursuit went on for 20 minutes.

Officers have thanked the public who helped out by pointing police in the direction of the fleeing crooks.

Herts Constabulary spokesman Olivia Finucane said: “Members of the public in Berkhamsted High Street and surrounding roads were really good in pointing officers in the direction of the car. We are very grateful to the people of Berkhamsted and Hertfordshire.”
