A PUB barman will go on a charity cycle challenge if punters raise more than £1,000.

Jack Cotterill from The Robin Hood in Tring will take to two wheels in the annual event on Sunday, September 23, if regulars come up with the cash.

He has also promised to take on the 22.2-mile circuit in fancy dress if customers break the £1,500 barrier.

The 24-year-old said: “Every year staff decide who will do it. For the last six years, I have managed to duck out.”

Costume suggestions have included Rennie Bear – mascot of Iain Rennie Grove House Hospice Care, which the ride raises money for – the pub’s namesake Robin Hood and a mankini, made famous by film character Borat.

“The Rennie Bear costume is heavy and hot and I think I might die,” said Jack, who will be joined on route by his girlfriend Kayleigh Dell, 22.

He added: “She will do it with me so I am not alone at the back dying on my own.”

Sponsorship and registration forms and maps of the route are available from The Robin Hood or online at www.irhh.org.
