St Mary’s Pre-school in Northchurch is celebrating after recently being awarded the highest grade of outstanding by Ofsted inspectors.

Pre-school leader Lisa Burkett said: “We are delighted to have received the highest possible grading from Ofsted.

“Our aim has always been to provide an outstanding play-based curriculum in a safe, inclusive and stimulating environment and we are so pleased that our hard work has been recognised in this way.”

In its inspection report, Ofsted highlighted the outstanding quality of teaching at the pre-school and the exceptional progress made by children.

Inspectors praised the rich and imaginative learning opportunities provided by the highly qualified and motivated staff.

The leadership and management team was said to be ‘inspirational’.

Lisa said: “We are determined to build on this success.

“That is why we have decided to lower our starting age to two-and-a-half years to allow more children to experience our outstanding pre-school.”
