ELDERLY people in three bungalows in Adeyfield were left unable to use bathrooms and kitchens after pipework was ripped out by vandals.
Panicked residents woke up on Tuesday and found external waste pipes from sinks, baths and basins had been wrenched out and left lying on the ground in Adeyfield Road.
Carole Curtis, whose 89-year-old mother Elsie Ward was among the victims, said: “When she woke up her sink pipes were disconnected. They’ve taken all the pipes.
“She phoned me. She was panicking. She can’t use the bathroom.”
Carole said two other neighbouring bungalows were hit. “There’s one person who’s quite poorly,” she said.
Dacorum Borough Council said repair works were due to take place yesterday.
“The plumber is on-site and sorting it out,” a spokesman said.
Police are investigating the incident and have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
Anyone with information should call 101.
