Pines plan gets the nod after six years
Plans to build six homes on The Pines in Berkhamsted have been given the go-ahead following years of wrangles.
A meeting of Dacorum Borough Council’s development control committee gave the green light after revised plans showed a modified parking layout with an extra space.
The Chipperfield Land Company has been trying to get permission to redevelop the North Road site since it bought the 1930s-designed property in 2006.
The site has been described as ‘arcadian’ and it has also been defined as a ‘heritage asset’.
Under the plans an existing building will be turned into two and a further four will be built.
To get agreement from planners a house has been removed from the scheme and the parking arrangements altered a number to times.
A report to councillors says: “The amendments to the scheme are considered to address the concerns raised at the previous committee meeting.”
Councillors delegated the plans with a view to approval.
