Pig breed is pork of the town

PORK lovers will be thrilled to know a new breed of pig has arrived.

The "Bramley Old Spot" pork went on sale at Eastwood Butchers in Gravel Path, Berkhamsted, on Monday (August 16).

The venue is one of less than 20 throughout the country to stock the rare breed.

It is made from 50 per cent Glocester Old Spot boar, 25 per cent British Landrace dam and 25 per cent British Large White dam.

It was four years in the making and has just been perfected.

Owner Joe Collier said: "This has really got the wow factor and will have a great taste to rival the Aberdeen Angus."

The pork is also used at the five-star Gleneagles Hotel in Scotland.
