Pavilion petition gains momentum as more than 1,000 people pledge their support for new entertainment venue

A campaign to replace Hemel Hempstead’s much-missed Pavilion has now attracted more than 1,000 signatures.

Trio Mike Ridley, his wife Chris and their neighbour Carolyn Nicholls launched the bid after learning of plans for a town centre cinema in Market Square.

They believe that people would benefit much more from a live entertainment venue that could be used for a variety of performance appealing to a wide range of tastes.

The Pavilion was demolished in 2002 and a replacement promised but, despite several grand designs being drawn up, nothing has ever materialised.
