Olympic £47k for sports club

CASH: A sports pavillion will be given a “complete overhaul” after a £47,000 cash grant was given to its owners by an Olympic legacy group.

The cash from government agency Sport England’s Inspired initiative will pay for a new roof, cladding, windows, doors, showers and kitchen at the Little Gaddesden venue, which was build during the 1970s.

Little Gaddesden Sports Club chairman Douglas Adams said: “We have been keeping it going, but it’s needed some quite significant investment for some time.

“Now we are going to have a complete overhaul of the building, we will finally have a pavillion the village can be proud of.”

The cash was handed to his group as part of a drive to make sure that smaller sports clubs are able to enjoy a slice of Britain’s Olympic legacy.
