A house owner has knocked on neighbours doors to mount a campaign against plans to demolish council-owned garages to make way for two new homes but their views may not be considered.
Aeron Mathers has the backing of 23 householders in his fight against the homes plan at Sleddale - an area already plagued by parking congestion. “There is already people double parking at night and blocking people in,” he said.
But the 37-year-old, of nearby Wensleydale, who also instructed a town planning consultant, has been told the petition will not be considered because it was submitted three days after the public consultation closed.
Aeron said: “It has been Christmas and it has taken me a long time to get the information and speak to the residents.”
He said householders would prefer extra parking rather than more homes.
Dacorum Borough Council spokesman Sara Hamilton said: “Council officers are under no obligation to take into account comments received after a consultation deadline has passed.”
