A law firm worker is taking the plunge for the children’s hospice where her best pal works as a nurse.

Charlie O’Brien from Hemel Hempstead’s Pictons will be doing her first 10,000ft skydive in May for Keech Hospice Care.

The 27-year-old marketing manager said: “Since Pictons chose Keech as its charity of the year, I have often wandered around the hospice admiring the nurses and the support staff as well as the fundraisers for the tireless and unselfish work and services they provide.

“My best friend Nichola works there as a nurse and I’m in admiration of her.

“The sky dive is something that I always said I wouldn’t do but then I just thought: ‘What a wimp’ and that I should go for it because Keech and the patients and staff deserve it.

“My mum is not so excited about me doing it, however.”

Pictons has already raised more that £3,000 for the charity through corporate events at its four offices in Hemel Hempstead, Tring, Luton and Milton Keynes.

Charlie has set herself a £1,000 fundraising target from her daredevil stunt.
