The sister school to a new education facility in Hemel Hempstead is one of few primary schools to be judged ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted.

Dr Sue Attard, who is principal of the Hatfield Community Free School which was recently given the accolade, will also act as the head at the new Jupiter Community Free School which welcomes its first intake this September and will grow to 420 pupils.

The new school, opening on the site of the former Jupiter Drive School, will form part of the West Herts Community Free Schools Trust with its Hatfield counterpart.

The Hatfield school was identified as having high standards in reading, writing and maths with many pupils performing a year above age-related expectations.

It also judged pupils’ behaviour as ‘impeccable’.

Dr Attard said: “We are all pleased with the outcome of our inspection because it captured the essence of our school, which is centered on the rights of the child to be listened to by a highly dedicated staff team who place their wellbeing at the forefront of their work each day.

“I look forward to sharing this experience with the children of Hemel.”
