A mother arrested yesterday evening after a smash in Boxmoor has now been charged by police for drink-driving and being drunk while in charge of a child.

Kim Evans, 32, of Hollybush Lane, Hemel Hempstead, was taken into custody shortly after the two-car collision in St John’s Road just before 6pm.

Her two children were in the car at the time of the accident.

Paramedics attended the scene but no-one need to be taken to hospital.

Ms Evans has been released on police bail and is due to appear at St Albans Magistrates Court on February 3.

The road, which was blocked, was reopened to traffic by police just before 7.30pm after the two vehicles had been recovered.
