If you were worried about why a police helicopter was circling the Berkhamsted area yesterday morning, don’t be.
The chopper had been looking for 87-year-old Eric Leary, who went missing from his home in Berkhamsted at about 6.30am.
Police put out an appeal for the public’s help finding him just after 11.20am – but sent out another message just after noon to say he had been found.
He was described as about 5ft 10ins with white hair and a walking stick, grey trousers, a red checked shirt, red jumper, tweed jacket and brown lace-up shoes.
Spokesman Sarah Spence said: “Officers are concerned for Eric’s safety and would ask anyone who has seen him to contact Herts Police straight away.”
But less than an hour later, she said: “He has now been found safe and well in Berkhamsted.”
