Youngsters have been learning about the circle of life thanks to the arrival of 11 fluffy chicks.
Children at Hemel Hempstead’s Micklem Primary School got to see the seven girls and four boys hatch and have been recording their progress, including growth, wing span and noise levels.
Year 4 teacher Kate Furlong said: “It is a completely new experience for the children. Some of them have never had pets and some didn’t know what would be inside the eggs.
“The youngest ones thought it could be dinosaurs.”
The chicks will be going to new homes on Friday and the school hopes to repeat the project next year.
