There’s movie magic in the air in Hemel Hempstead, as shoppers are being offered the chance to win a blockbuster of a prize.
Those browsing the Marlowes Shopping Centre this month could soon see themselves stepping out on the red carpet at the European premiere of Disney’s latest cinema release, Guardians of the Galaxy.
The sci-fi adventure even filmed some of its scenes in Dacorum last year, and now you could be rubbing shoulders with Hollywood royalty thanks to an exciting competition run by the town centre mall.
The event, which starts on Monday and runs through until Friday, July 18, will see shoppers rewarded for every £30 they spend in the centre with a golden ticket.
But if you’re not the lucky individual who wins the chance to visit Leicester Square for the film’s opening night, there are plenty of other prizes up for grabs including cinema tickets, gift vouchers and exclusive movie merchandise.
All golden ticket holders will then be entered into a draw to win the ‘money can’t buy’ premiere invitation.
If that wasn’t enough, this Saturday shoppers will also be able to become a Guardian of the Galaxy themselves using green screen technology.
From 11am to 4pm, shoppers can take their place among the stars of the film and receive a free souvenir photo, as well as having their picture made available on the Marlowes Facebook page.
Marlowes centre director Vince Williams said: “Throughout the year, we run free events at the Marlowes which add a real energy and excitement to the centre.
“This is the first time that we have run a promotion like this, and we are delighted to be linking up with Disney, who have supplied such a fantastic, exclusive prize.”

Parts of the superhero film – which was adapted from a cult comic book – were shot in Hemel Hempstead’s hospital site over two days last summer.
The film follows a group of aliens in the 31st century tasked with the protection of earth, the time stream and the whole galaxy.
The futuristic epic features the voices of Bradley Cooper as character Rocket Raccoon and Vin Diesel as Groot, and hits cinemas on July 31.
