A lorry has now been removed from the house it crashed into this morning – and Berkhamsted High Street is about to reopen.

The main road has been closed since about 7am after the smash its junction with Swing Gate Lane.

This website previously reported that a phone booth, letterbox, railings and a tree were wiped out after a lorry-driver lost control of his vehicle

Life in the area is now returning to normal, but the extent of damage to the building hit by the truck is unclear. It is not known what will be done about the hole left in the wall of the house that got hit.

Berkhamsted & Tring Sgt Peter Huffer said: “We are hoping to reopen the road within 20 minutes.”
