A woman has praised a bus driver who sprang into action after his passengers were injured when he had to brake sharply to avoid a nasty accident.
Heather Clinton hurt her knee and husband Michael hit his head when the Number 2 bus came to a sudden stop in The Denes, Bennetts End, on Saturday afternoon.
“There was nothing else he could do. It was either slam his brakes on or hit the car,” said Heather.
Paramedics were called and one lady passenger was taken to hospital. After Heather and Michael were given the all clear at the scene, the Arriva bus driver – known as Lee– dropped the couple off outside their Great Elms Road home.
Heather said: “He is a credit to his company. He deserves a driver of the year award.”
