Gaddesden Place Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) Centre has celebrated its 40th anniversary with a fun day.

The charity’s indoor arena was dedicated to a challenge ride that involved riding to different parts of the arena to collect equipment needed to bake a cake.

The RDA is dedicated to giving children and adults with special needs and disabilities the chance to learn to ride a horse or pony.

Hemel Hempstead MP, who presented rosettes to the riders during the fun day, said: “For many of these children, it is a very special place and one of their highlights of the week. It is an absolute treat to see them ride.”

The horses were set to impress with their manes plaited especially for the fun day on Sunday, May 18. All the riders enjoyed showing off their riding skills to friends, family and more than 100 volunteers. There were also games, refreshments and plant and cake stalls. The event raised more than £1,600 for the RDA.
