Staff at Watford General Hospital have apologised after the facility’s drinking water supply was suspended for most of the afternoon yesterday.
An ‘internal incident’ was declared at 2.15pm, due to a problem with the water supply, which meant there was no non-drinking water for several hours and drinking water was not available from the usual supply until later the same evening.
Bottled water was given to patients for the duration of the fault.
A spokesman for the hospital said: “As you would expect, we put in place a series of measures to ensure we continued to provide the best possible, safe care to our patients until the issue was resolved.
“This included having the fire brigade on site to provide a temporary water supply, and we would like to thank them for their support.
“We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused to patients and visitors.”
