A grandmother is celebrating after shedding two stone in weight – and her efforts won her a free gym membership.

Sue Bailey, 63, triumphed over her fellow fat fighters Pam Murray and Jay Hayes after they were put through their paces by personal trainers during a 12-week competition at On The Limit in Tring.

Whoever lost the most would win a free 14-week membership, and the final weigh-in revealed that Sue had said goodbye to 14kgs – equivalent to two stone – while Pam had shed 10kg and Jay 7kg.

Sue, who was trained by Andrew Tallyn, said: “It feels so good, but I wouldn’t have been able to do it without Andrew’s help.

“I wouldn’t have lost so much weight if he hadn’t been encouraging me.”

Andrew’s colleagues Mark Guest and Natalie Fitzpatrick worked with Pam and Jay to get the pounds off, and all three trainers gave their time for free.

Sue is now training at the gym in Western Road between three and four times a week, attacking everything from boxing, cycling, rowing and weights under Andrew’s watchful eye. She’s enjoying her new shape and confessed to buying lots of new dresses.

The gym’s director Kathryn Bell said: “We are passionate about helping people in the local community reach their fitness goals. All candidates did very well and should be proud with their achievements, mainly as all are continuing with their healthy and fit lifestyle.”
