Volunteer Centre Dacorum is proud to be a finalist in ‘Community Champions’ category of the ‘Inspiring Hertfordshire’ campaign which celebrates the expertise, achievements and outstanding contribution that businesses and individuals make in the county.

Richard Pitts, chief executive officer, attended the event at The Porsche Centre in Hatfield last week and said: “The Community Champions award is for organisations that have made a significant impact in their local community. It’s a great achievement that the work of the volunteer centre has been recognised by the Hertfordshire business community through our nomination.”

“We’ve been supporting other charities and community groups for more than 40 years.

“Known as the charity that helps other charities, we have a track record of helping to build and strengthen our communities and to transform the lives of those that get involved.”

There are more than 300 different ways that volunteers can help in the community. Why not contact us to see what you could do?

Carers in Hertfordshire

Carers in Hertfordshire is a charity that supports carers. As part of their work they provide support to young carers.

These young people are aged eight to 18 and look after an ill or disabled relative who could not manage without their help. To give these young carers a break from their caring role they run events across the county and need volunteers to help with this. Ideally, you will be a driver with your own vehicle but will be matched with events that are as close as possible to where you live. This role involves helping to set up the venue, encouraging the young carers to get the most out of the day, assisting with refreshments and also with administration at the end of the event. Events generally take place during school holidays. Volunteers should be aged 18 or over for this role.
