A black tie gala dinner at Hatfield’s Porsche Centre saw the presentation of the 2014 Inspiring Hertfordshire Awards, organised by the county’s chamber of commerce and backed by the University of Hertfordshire.

Dacorum and West Herts firms draw a blank as the awards were announced, but St Albans-based law firm Debenhams Ottaway took the title of Business of the Year (Medium to Large).

Herts Chamber chief executive Yolanda Rugg said: “Each year it just gets better and better. The judges were bowled over by the quality of entries. Without doubt, organisations are treating awards entry as an important element of their marketing plan.

“Being a winner is fabulous, but being selected as a finalist has a lot of kudos attached to it, and those organisations that enter but just miss the mark, do so in the face of stiff competition, but find the experience very useful.”
